To Be Clear

I have noticed an uptick in visits to this page, in the last.. oh say two weeks. Even though I haven't been adding new content.

I am guessing it might be due to the Cheeto in power's, feckless Harpy mouth piece, using a term that sounds very much like my blog's name..

So to be clear, this page is my blog, which is about being a fat person (I haven't updated the blog in a while). I have been blogging for a few years about very mundane things. This has never been a political blog (until now!).

As the sole content provider to my blog, I feel I need to add a small note about this blog/writer: I am: fat positive, LGBTQ+ positive, sex work positive, WOC/POC positive and welcome to all people who are being marginalized. I believe with all my heart that: Black Lives Matter (institutionalized systematic racism is still a thing! and fighting it is important), Muslims belong here in the USA as much as anyone else, I Stand With Standing Rock, Women's Rights are Human Rights, Planned Parenthood is amazing, PBS is the life blood for giving all children a small yet equal start for learning, loving, and understanding the world and the people in it. I am a liberal chick, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am committed to Resisting and Fighting the current bullshit that is happening in my country under the new and idiotic person in power (and all the nazi/fascist evil twits behind him pulling his strings).

Have a lovely day and thanks for visiting!

The Bird and the Bee: GB wrap up

Hello friends!

I am on the cusp of the end of my trial with Gwynnie Bee, as you saw over my last few posts I have been less than thrilled with my trial.
So today I wrote them an email about my experience it reads as follows:

The Bee: part 3

Third dress arrived from Gwynnie Bee, And while it is pretty and more casual, it really wasn't good for me.

Hi friends, Sorry I have been gone so long.

Today I am going to dish about some clothing.

dress?

I was looking around ASOS curve this evening and I noticed something a bit off..
They keep using the word "dress" when clearly they mean "shirt"
I am all for being comfortable, but these take it a bit too far..

After Holiday: Naughty List

Yes, I just blew all my x-mass bonus from work on what I really wanted for the holiday.. socks and clothes.
Oh how times have changed.
I remember when all I wanted was toys, movies and various tasty snacks for gifts.

Crap fat clothes.. For fall

:: a note for the "nice police", I get that some people will like some/part/all of the clothing I have chosen to write in a sarcastic manner about. That's fine you can like the clothes. But I don't. I am in no way criticizing you or your fashion choices. I am simply stating my opinion about these items. Don't agree? peachy. don't like this post? Read something from before, or come back for my next one. I will delve deeper into my dislike for what clothing offerings get given to us fat people. And why I write sarcastically about clothing::

When I typed the title for this blog it auto corrected fall to fail.. Seems my internet is starting to think like me!

So this Is going to be a photo heavy post of just a few of the more sad things I have found for fall clothing for fat people.. I didn't have to go far to find sad examples of shit choices.. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg.

Lets start this with a trip to ASOS:
I do like some/most? of their clothing so don't get me wrong. But some of their style choices confuse the crap out of me.
Lets see how far the pendulum swings shall we?

Don't mind me I just have some serious shoulder studs to keep the pigeons off.

And then you get something cute like this dress:

or you get this..

Cause a "cold shoulder plaid shirt dress" is all the rage
I love looking like I fell out of bed in the morning, after being ravaged by wolves..

Anyone else feel like we are in high school gym class??

Class it up with some heels.. who wants to run the mile??

Wow we hit normal, well made and can work on a variety of bodies..

Only to fall into the pit of leather sausage casings.

The elastic back totally sells this look. I love having saggy weird looking butt.

.
Look Ma! You too cam wear your sweats as overalls!
The no back pocket thing will make your ass look big and lumpy, and the camel toe will be epic but whatever.. Fatshion!

OOO new this season, after the success of the grey sack, we have the floral option. Still no back pockets, but the new pattern helps mask the camel toe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our next stop takes us to:  Old Navy. Where they have almost completely given up proper sizing, construction, fit, style and fabric choices.

I can't tell who is wearing the potato sack of a dress worse;
the poor girl in the photo or the headless plastic mannequin??

Look potato sack now comes in a print!
Seriously old navy, step up your game just a little! Great that you carry a variety of sizes (whether intentional or not so) But I would love to see better construction, and less sack. Thanks!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahh our last stop on the snark train is: Horrid Torrid.

hideous lace, or eyelet tap shorts anyone?  Come on you know you want to dress like Nana on her cruise!

How about a matching floral jacket and top? 'Cause nothing is better camouflage, than big floral print on a fat girl.
It looks like this print is going to be big with the teenage middle management set! "Oh my god; I'm like such an adult!" (this would look smashing with the shorts above)

How about the jacket equivalent of a mullet only reversed?
Business in the back (tailored, nice clean cut).
Fuckin' Party in the front! Badly cut, no semblance of tailoring, studs/sequins, off center zipper.
looking at this makes me feel like I'm  coming off a black out drunk.

Speaking of blackout drunk;
Whose idea was it to do band shirts for teenagers (of bands they don't listen to?)

I'll give you a maybe, to Sublime. like if their older brother/uncle/aunt is 26-45, then maybe they know who Sublime was. And they have listened to: "You know that one cd with the tattoo on it".

The Grateful Dead: I have serious doubts about. For the sake of argument, I will also give you a maybe. They might listen to the Dead.

But Rush?!? Really?? Have you ever seen how empty a women's bathroom is at a Rush concert?? Not to mention the average age of a Rush fan. Do not even try to convince me that the market demographic of Torrid listens to Rush. It just isn't likely at all!
"Geddy Lee? Who Is she?"
Yeah, no!

If you want a more comprehensive list of shit clothes, please go look at Romans.com. cause who doesn't want fat clothes modeled on standard size women?? That really helps us fat chicks have an idea of what the clothes look like on a bigger body!
You can also look at:
Target
Walmart
Simply Be
forever 21
Wet Seal
Kohl's
Lane Bryant
really anywhere that sells fat people clothes.

<End Snark>
Much love!
Raven

Plus size Tripp!

(this is a personal experience/opinion: I have not been offered anything to give this opinion. This message is not sponsored in any way shape or form. But if Tripp NYC wants to throw some plus size stuff my way, I wont say no.. just saying!)

I just wanted to pass it on to anyone else who might interested in buying plus sized tripp things.

I wrote an inquiry to Tripp NYC, Because I love their combination of style, fit and quality of merchandise (I own pieces that are over 7 years old and are still as nice as the day I bought them, even with regular wear and washing). Because of this, I always want the opportunity to own more of their clothing and I know I am not the only person who is peeved at torrid for no longer having Tripp NYC clothing in plus sizes available.

My message:

I am writing to inquire, whom if anyone carries your plus size line? Other than Torrid (as they seem to no longer have your items in stock). or hottopic (their sizing is either listed incorrectly or they aren't straight sizes). Thank you in advance for any help.

It took a few days for a reply, However a REAL person wrote me back!

Tripp NYC's Response:

Thank you for contacting Tripp NYC, we appreciate you reaching out to us! All of our currently available plus size clothing can be found at our retail store http://www.trashandvaudeville.com/, and we are working on having some more items available soon!

Thanks & have a great day
!

I took a look, and as of this afternoon (8-1) they have 3 dresses ($40-$70) and one skirt ($80) (some to a size 28/30)

I think it's awesome!
If you like tripp clothing please, show them some love and buy their wares.
Like any store I can only imagine demand will = more styles.

Raven

PS: Incase Tripp NYC does read this, I want that skirt! and the black poison dress.. size 26 or 4x!

Thanks!!  I wouldn't say no to anything you might want to throw my way.. (not that this is likely to happen, but you never know)

Torrid's responce

Well my dear sweet monster thingies,
 Torrid has written me back.
More to the point a customer service representative not Torrid corporate . And i am going to post that response to my letter to Torrid , and then speak further on it.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Hello Raven,

Thank you for shopping at Torrid.com! Hope you’re having a wonderful day!
Raven,
Torrid is not going to abandon what it has begun.  Rather, it is adding
choices that the young plus size customers have asked us for that they
cannot find from other retailers.

We are definitely holding onto the looks that have always been part of our
assortments, as well as adding choices for the young plus size person who
has said her lifestyle requires more choices than we originally offered
her.

It is important to share with you that many customers have voiced repeated
requests for us to provide more alternatives to them.  They want the
younger plus size person to have a place that offers hip, young, current
fashion choices whether it is casual clothes for a student, a dressy
occasion, a sexy club outfit, or someone just beginning their career. We
heard over and over that our customers had many wardrobe needs to fill
their lifestyle alternatives and we were leaving some of them out.

We also learned from many customers that our logo had "stiff, skinny"
letters instead of being representative of something curvy and beautiful.
We also learned that the younger plus size customer did not know we were
plus size.  We are proud of being plus size. That's why our logo has
changed from stiff, skinny letters to beautiful, curvy letters with the
words "plus sizes" added.

We hope you will continue to give us a chance, so we may live up to your
expectations and to satisfy your wishes. We are going to work hard at
continuing to create products that are different than the other plus size
retailers offer, with our own unique Torrid detailing and style.

If you need any further assistance please contact us!

Cheers,
Mariela

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now while I am thrilled That I got a response at all; I am fairly disappointed that It was such a general e-mail.
I don't feel that torrid addressed any of my (our) concerns when it comes to quality of product.
It really feels like a canned response.
Additionally the whole diatribe on them changing the logo.. I never said anything about said logo, nor do I have an issue with them changing it.

When I posted the letter to various groups i got quite a few comment on the lack of quality, so clearly this issue is very prevalent.

Again, to you my dear readers, I want more proof/opinions for future letters to Torrid.
I am going to write them back again, and voice again the concerns about quality. If there is more you would like me to address let me know.

Kisses,
Raven
